When I became a mom, I had so many questions. I googled, texted other moms, & asked for advice as often as I could. All my new mama questions begged for genuine answers. I had just entered into a season that was completely new. I desired the guidance of mamas who had come before me. But online, it was hard to find content that truly depicted what motherhood is like. Social media often operates as a highlight reel and fails to shed light on the more troublesome parts of our lives. And so I felt alone in my motherhood. I didn’t get the sense that other moms were struggling with overwhelm, comparison, or exhaustion like I was. I broke down often & got impatient. I sometimes wished for days when I could sleep more than three hours a night. I counted down the minutes until nap times. There were days when I was just in survival mode. And I believed the lie that I was the only one. It was comforting when I finally realized that many moms actually do experience the same emotions and pressures. The hormonal changes, the mom guilt, the overstimulation. We all feel it at one point or another. And even though we love our babies to the moon & back, we can all admit that motherhood is hard.
A couple months ago, I felt called to start this blog, From Our Home. Once again I had found myself feeling lost & alone in a new season of motherhood. But I now know I’m not really alone, & I’m hopeful that my experiences will encourage other mamas. So God laid on my heart the message he wants me to share:
the realities of motherhood.
the good & the hard. the highs and the unavoidable lows. The overflowing joy and the frustrating triggers. Motherhood is both beautiful and challenging. We, as mamas, should feel confident to share both aspects of the journey. And through this platform, I hope to offer answers to vulnerable questions & encouragement to mamas seeking authenticity. I want to be real. I want to share about all aspects of my motherhood journey in hopes that I might help another mama not feel so alone in hers.
WITH LOVE, ANNA.
